Duke University has been operating a successful weight loss program since 1969 in their residential Diet and Fitness Center in Durham, North Carolina. Now, it has been made available to everyone via the Duke Diet and Fitness web site. Online diet programs have proven to be successful for thousands of people. What's the Scoop?


The Duke Diet & Fitness online program is based on a their proven weight-loss plan made up of four components: a personalized diet, a fitness routine, behavioral strategies, and medical expertise. As a member, you receive guidance and information from an expert in each of these four areas. You get daily encouragement, a customized Meal Planner, exercises that you can do in your home, and advice based on recent weight-loss studies and findings. When you enroll in the Duke Diet, you'll receive personalized instruction - including diet and fitness plans that are cusstomized for you. With the Duke Diet, you'll also have access to the Duke Experts, a team of five reputable professionals who each support the four dynamics of the Duke Diet - nutrition, fitness, behavioral health and medical guidance.

The program offers 16 online weight-loss tools which include a meal planner, an eating out guide, a weight tracker and journal, behaviorial health assessments, more than 400 recipes and message boards.

What's the theory?


As you might expect, there are no gimicks in this plan. Just expertly applied, scientificaly proven, weight-loss fundamentals. Reduced caloric intake combined with increased coloric expenditure, courtesy of the customized exercise plan, based on your fitness level and goals, and incorporating a combination of cardio, strength training, and stretching.

Diet & Fitness Profile


When you first navigate to the web site, you are asked a series of demographic and lifestyle questions such as current weight, gender, goal weight, current activity levels and questions about why you think you need to lose weight. After answering the questions, you get the results of your profile which includes targeted feedback from the Duke experts on each of the four aspects of their program.

If you decide to sign-up, you will pay $5 a week billed in 13 week increments ($65). The first 5 weeks are non-refundable, after that you can cancel at any time.
